Educational Programs
In addition to the regular inpatient rounds and continuum of inpatient and outpatient teaching, several additional cardiac/cardiovascular conferences are held regularly. These include a weekly topics conference, a monthly mortality/ pathology conference and a weekly surgery conference. A Core Curriculum series is presented weekly by fellows, covering basic cardiology principles and concepts in depth.
There is a weekly interactive teaching session with alternating focus on echo reading, ECG and arrhythmia interpretation, and angiography or nuclear interpretation attended by all fellows and directed by a faculty member. There are also weekly pediatric grand rounds and pediatric patient management conferences. The trainee participates fully in these and occasionally presents material of his/her own. Pediatric cardiology fellows attend one or two national meetings or major national courses.
