Service is the focus of Dr. Engle’s academic mission. Clinical service to sick neonates and their parents is his major priority. Dr. Engle also serves the Section (Director of Clinical Services, Co-Director of the Neonatal ECMO Program, Medical Director of Riley NICU), the Department of Pediatrics, the School of Medicine and the Medical Staff in several administrative capacities. He also participates in medical training through bedside and didactic education. He is the faculty liaison with our combined neonatology-pediatric surgical conferences and directs the NeoReviews Plus audience response education program for fellows, nurse practitioners, and faculty in neonatology. Dr. Engle has a number of diverse quality improvement and research projects that focus on benchmarking for bronchopulmonary dysplasia, infection control and oxygen toxicity in low birthweight infants.
