Visiting Students

Visiting Students

The Indiana University School of Medicine limits the number of visiting students allowed per year due to the increased medical school enrollment.  IUSM has regional campuses with many MS4s rotating in Pediatrics at Riley Hospital for advanced electives.  Thus, they have restricted our ability to host many outside students.

Our residency program does not require or expect an ‘audition rotation’ and we rely on the ERAS, interview, and Match process primarily instead of visiting rotations.  We are highly interested in diversity, including geographic diversity, and look for strong students from a wide variety of schools and areas.

For those with strong ties to IU, Indianapolis, or high interest in the program for specific reasons, we have a select number of slots.  Away electives are open in Fall-Winter for rotations that are not filled by IU senior MS4s or sub-interns.   If you are interested in obtaining an elective, please apply through VSAS.  All inquiries should go through John Keller in the Office of Medical Student Academic Affairs at 317-274-2264.  If you have additional questions or specific issues, please contact the Pediatric Education Office at 317-944-4034.
