Clinical Programs - Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
Indiana University School of Medicine
Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSOM) Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) provide care for critically ill newborns in Riley NICU, Wishard NICU, and Indiana University Hospital SCN.
As clinical leaders on these patient care teams, NNPs attend high risk deliveries, execute clinical management decisions for critically ill newborns, provide expert procedural competency for intensive care managements, and ensure support for families of these newborns in each of these units.
Additionally, IUSOM NNPs work closely with medical students and house staff during their rotations at Riley and Wishard NICUs. IUSOM NNPs are active members of the LIFELINE Critical Care Transport specialty neonatal team which serves the entire state of Indiana. Currently, NNPs direct the neonatal care provided by the LIFELINE transport team for 70% of all NICU transports.
