Simulation Center Program
Training in Pediatric Simulation (TIPS)
Neo Resuscitation Program (NRP)
In conjunction with The Center for Medical Simulation, the Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine provides education for clinicians using high fidelity simulation-based methodologies designed to enhance learning, improve team performance, and review technically challenging or infrequently used procedures.
Neonatal faculty and staff train health care professionals from multiple disciplines to successfully manage delivery room emergencies as well as emergencies that occur in the neonatal ICU and in infant nurseries outside of the academic setting. Through the use of mannequins and realistic scenarios, trainees are immersed in clinical situations that are realistic and training can be done in a way that poses no risk to human life.
Programs currently educate students from the IU Schol of Medicine and School of Nursing, as well as residents and fellows from multiple specialties including pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology and anesthesiology. Outreach programs for pediatric multi-disciplinary teams are available for those outside the University who wish to review delivery room skills or less commonly used procedures. NRP recertification and CME credit hours are offered through the program. More information on the outreach program can be found on the Indiana University CME website at http://cme.medicine.iu.edu.
