IU Health and the IU School of Medicine are investing $150 million over five years in the Strategic Research Initiative (SRI), a new research collaboration that will enhance the institutions' joint capabilities in fundamental scientific investigation, translational research and clinical trials. The goal of the SRI is to fund transformative proposals that will fundamentally change our understanding of diseases and lead to important new therapies for patients.  These resources together with a new $120 million initiative in Precision Medicine and a $45 million gift from the Lilly Endowment to recruit physician scientists, will provide resources to ultimately recruit 60 new investigators to Indiana University School of Medicine.  In addition, the Riley Children's Foundation has designated over $100 million in funds for the Department of Pediatrics to recruit scientists to build new research and clinical programs over the next 5 years.
