Dr. Dennis Fortenberry appointed Chief of Adolescent Medicine

It is a pleasure to announce that Dr. Dennis Fortenberry is the new Section Chief of Adolescent Medicine.  Dennis is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he also did postgraduate training in internal medicine and epidemiology.  He came to IU in 1993 as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and the Associate Director of Adolescent Medicine. He has been a Professor since 1999. 


Dennis is an established NIH funded investigator in sexual and reproductive health of adolescents.  He has received multiple honors for his research and service to his academic community, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine and the Achievement Award of the American STD Association. He a past president of the International Academy for Sex Research, President-elect of the American STD Association, and is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Sexual Health Association.  Dr. Fortenberry is also recognized as an outstanding clinician and mentor, having twice received the Indiana University Trustee Teaching Award.
