A Clinical Approach to Dealing with Family Violence
Medical professionals in all fields encounter potential victims of family violence daily. Knowing how to approach this difficult topic is crucial to stemming the public health crisis that family violence has produced. Whether you provide care for adults or children, it is essential that you know how to screen for all forms of family violence, what to do if you suspect family violence is affecting your patient, and how to provide the necessary support for those who are victims. Indiana University Health is committed to improving our response to this issue and is pleased to offer this one-day CME-accredited training, free of charge to participants in the healthcare professions.

Tracks for adult and pediatric medicine will be offered in which we will discuss specific risk factors for various forms of abuse, why we need to screen for abuse, how to screen for family violence in your patient population, barriers to screening and how to overcome them.
Research has clearly shown adult learners do best when given the opportunity to put their skills to work. We will have multiple “lab” experiences for our learners to practice these tough conversations with trained professionals.
Both CME credits and nursing credits will be available for participants at no additional cost.
