The Youth Diabetes Prevention Clinical Outcomes Study

There is evidence that early diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to insulin resistance and prediabetes, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and PCOS, effects health outcomes in youth. This protocol to collect data on clinical outcomes of medical care in youth with these conditions will provide the data needed to inform future studies of prevention and treatment of pre-diabetes in youth. This study aims to assess the effect of being treated in the Youth Diabetes Prevention Clinic on glucose tolerance and risk factors for type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular health, as measured by blood pressure and lipids, body mass index, and to measure patient and referring provider satisfaction with the program via questionnaire.
