About Us

Welcome to the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. Our Division includes board certified pediatric gastroenterology specialists and nurse specialists who care for children with disorders of the digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, intestine), liver and pancreas. For the last few years, we have been named as one of the top pediatric gastroenterology programs in the nation by US News and World Report.

Our outstanding pediatric gastroenterologists are faculty members of the Indiana University School of Medicine and provide comprehensive evaluations and individualized treatment plans for our patients and extensive education for families. As of August 2012, our group will consist of 12 pediatric gastroenterologists and 1 pediatric nurse practitioner.

Clinical Services

With access to excellent pediatric surgery, pediatric nutrition and pediatric interventional radiology support, and a full spectrum of pediatric subspecialties, we provide comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care for our patients. Several multi-disciplinary clinics enhance these collaborations, and we have dedicated programs for patients with inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, eosinophilic diseases, short bowel syndrome, cystic fibrosis, obesity and motility disorders. Our facilities are state of the art, and when hospitalization is necessary, our patients are admitted to Riley Hospital’s beautiful new Simon Tower opened in 2012 or to the pediatric unit at IU North Hospital, which has one of the highest customer satisfaction rankings in the Midwest.

Along with excellent patient care, our Division is also actively engaged in clinical research. The Department of Pediatrics has a very strong research division which focuses on basic and translational science and our physicians regularly participate in clinical trials of leading edge treatments and therapies.

Our fellowship program is highly regarded and fairly competitive. We pride ourselves on the exemplary training our fellows receive and their subsequent career success.
