Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to General and Community Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). Our faculty main focus is to improve the health of Indiana’s children. From providing state of the art pediatric primary care in clinical practices, through many educational initiatives focused on Indiana pediatricians, primary care physicians, mid-level providers and community leaders, to strong advocacy at state and national levels we make a difference in our children’s life’s.

Our diverse group of more than 30 faculty members, and over 100 volunteer faculty, represents many different health systems and serves variety of patient populations. Our practices encompass community health centers, where we care for underserved intercity youth and refugee children, suburban practices, to large hospital based practices focusing on serving Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN). We are passionate about providing the highest quality, patient and family focused, evidence based compassionate and timely care for all in need.

Our Riley Quality Network leads many pediatric quality improvement efforts throughout many health systems and our faculty collaborates closely with Children’s Health Services Research, which is one of the largest and most active pediatric research divisions of its kind in the country. We are highly committed to clinical research to improve treatment outcomes to gain a better understanding of the factors influencing the development of childhood diseases. We have been nationally recognized for our programs working with Community Based Organizations and school systems, and for our participation in state and national child advocacy. We are a leader in the development of a medical home collaborative, education of residents in community pediatrics and the development of a program that helps youth with special heath care needs transition into independence and adulthood. As a measure of our preeminence, 3 of our General and Community Pediatrics faculty have served as President of the Indiana AAP Chapter in the last 5 years.

Our faculty members are dedicated to providing education for medical students, residents, faculty and statewide health care providers. Community and General Pediatrics is a favorite of medical students and each year our faculty receives IU Trustee Teaching Awards. Pediatric clerkships routinely choose our primary care settings as their best educational experience.

The General and Community Pediatrics Division is a group of professionals who love their work and take pride in their role of providing excellent care to the children of Indiana. Thank you for visiting our website to find out more about General and Community Pediatrics at IUSM.
